The Ruby Butterfly Brooch

This butterfly does not need a flower because it carries its own nectar of fire and light. The visionary Harshad Soni found four rubies from Mozambique that were as red as a setting sun and turned them into wings. To give the creature a body, we used two golden pearls that glow with a soft warmth to balance the heat of the red stones. It looks as though it has just landed on your shoulder to rest before flying back into a beautiful dream. This piece celebrates how the earth can create something heavy and yet make it look as light as air.
